Nebuchadnezzar’s victory over Jerusalem and the land of Judah can be found in 2 Kings 24-25 and 2 Chronicles 36. Jeremiah the prophet records God’s word during this time, beginning in chapter 21 of the book of Jeremiah.

Israel was a divide kingdom – ten tribes of Israel and the tribe of Judah. Israel (the ten tribes) was already in captivity in Assyria. (2 Kings 17)

Daniel tells of his experiences in Babylon under Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 1-4.

Ezra recorded the return of Judah to Jerusalem under Cyrus king of Persia, who defeated Belshazzar, Nebuchadnezzar’s successor.

Nehemiah returned with authority from King Artaxerxes (5th king of Persia) to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
